Randy Spetman

Randall W. "Randy" Spetman (born December 1, 1953) was the athletic director for the Florida State Seminoles athletic program at Florida State University from 2008 until 2013. Spetman has also been the director of athletics at Utah State University and the United States Air Force Academy. On February 4 of 2008, Spetman agreed to a multi-year contract with FSU, and expressed his intention to focus on the athletics & academics of the athletes who are attending Florida State University. He is currently the second Vice President of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
==Background and education==
Spetman was born and raised in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1976. While at the Academy, he earned three varsity letters as a defensive end for the Falcons football team and was a team captain as a senior. He also won a pair of heavyweight championships in the Academy's annual Wing Open Boxing tournament. Spetman has a master's degree in management from Central Michigan University and a master's degree in national security strategy from the Naval War College.
After graduation from the Academy, Spetman spent 28 year in the United States Air Force as a pilot. A command pilot with more than 3,000 hours of flight time, Spetman served in a range of positions, including assistant football coach at his alma mater; Chief of Bomber Planning in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm; and Chief of the Command and Control Division, Operations Directorate of the United States European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. His final career assignment was as the athletic director at the Academy.
